Fintech vs Financial Adviser, it doesn’t have to be a choice…

“Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have faith in people, that they are basically good and smart, and if you give them the tools, they will do wonderful things with them” – Steve Jobs

As a consumer, being provided with a limited approach or limited options can feel restrictive, hence at Harbour Wealth the blended approach can be liberating. Whether it’s the active/ passive blend (low cost index funds with active fund managers), diversified portfolios, or even online self-service vs expert consultation, we find that having options maintains client satisfaction.

Think about the last time you flew. When you checked in, did you use a self-service option like the airline’s website, app, or airport kiosk to check-in your bags? Did you choose your own seat, and print out your boarding pass? Or did you rather wait in line at the airport check-in counter to speak with someone? If you are like most people, you used the self-service option. Harvard Business Review research (January/ February Issue 2017) indicate an overwhelming preference for self-service: Across industries, 81% of all customers attempt to take care of matters themselves before reaching out to a representative.

Self-service is becoming more and more popular and investors are increasingly able to manage simple transactions on their investment portfolio on their own, however, when it comes down to the nitty gritty, the experience of a Financial Adviser should not be underestimated. While the self-service experience has improved dramatically in recent years, the actual hands-on service interaction has not changed in decades, creating a gap between what investors want and their actual experience. At Harbour Wealth we acknowledge the need of our clients for self-service and provide a tool/ dashboard that enables our clients to communicate and transact via their iPads, Smartphones, Laptops etc for basic transactions. In order to optimise and receive our full client experience, we advise that you make contact with one of our Wealth Managers. In this world of self service, skilled staff are required more than ever. But what sort of people are best equipped to handle today’s customers? And how can organisations ensure that they attract and retain the most-effective people?

We strive to achieve this by consistently seeking our clients’ feedback. In a recent client review meeting with one of our experienced Wealth Manager’s Sean Quigley CFP® and his client, the client expressed that she was exceptionally pleased by having accessibility to her investments wherever she is in the world. The client also noted the knowledge of her Financial Adviser, coupled with a good relationship between herself, the adviser and internal staff of Harbour Wealth, as well as the added bonus of her investments returning solid growth, all gave her piece of mind. Harbour Wealth does business with only one thing in mind – what is in the best interests of our clients.

In our quest for exceptional service, we would like to hear from you.
